ASAP’s foundation as a company is rooted in the values of Social Work; the conviction that taking care of others, especially our most vulnerable populations, is not only our civic duty, but one of our highest callings. ASAP Founder & CEO, Jennifer Berthelot-Jelovic, brought these values with her from her previous career as a Social Worker. As Jennifer’s work with non-profits and NGOs expanded over the years, she began learning more about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). Jennifer and the ASAP team actively Educate, Volunteer and work with Projects and Organizations on at least 16 of the 17 SDGs.
Since childhood, Jennifer dreamt of a world where all people had safe places to live, work, learn and play. Places that made the people happier and healthier and were also sustainable for the planet. And these places wouldn’t just be healthy for the wealthy; but rather an expected norm, regardless of socioeconomic status. So she volunteered, joined Boards, donated money, signed petitions, marched in the streets, led the protests, she spoke out and she spoke up about the inequity and the damage being done to our people and our planet. Jennifer founded A SustainAble Production.
Jennifer has taken what she learned throughout this journey and has woven it into the fabric of ASAP’s DNA. This is why at ASAP, we are one global community, united by our commitment to holistically improve the health of people and the planet. Guided by integrity, empathy and passion, we use the power of our deep expertise and relationships to create a future that promotes equity, sustainability, and wellbeing for all people, around the world.
In 2020, ASAP was looking for a more official way to measure and report our philanthropy, so we became a Member Organization for 1% for the Planet. 1% for the Planet brings dollars and doers together to accelerate smart environmental giving. 1% pairs businesses and individuals with their approved environmental nonprofits, creating high-impact partnerships that amplify the impact of members’ giving. ASAP was proud to surpass our first-year 1% donation and volunteer goals by more than 7x to organizations including the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, U.S. Green Building Council- Los Angeles Chapter (USGBC) and 1% for the Planet.
Though we weren’t able to volunteer in person in 2020, in addition to our monetary and volunteer donations to 1% participants; ASAP team members also donated money and volunteered more than 150 hours with the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), Greenbuild Conference & Expo, Green Business Certification Inc, (GBCI), the Urban Land Institute, Women in Sustainability Leadership Awards Alumnae Group & Board, Get Out the Vote, Local Food Pantry/Cub Scouts, Careers by Design LA Professional Development, AIA, AIA COTE, buildOn and more.
In 2020, ASAP also committed to publicly sharing our Give Back impact moving forward and will release our first report publicly at the end of 2021. We look forward to being able to give back in person one day soon.
